Make it Strong!

Make it Strong! is one of the thematic pillars of EU policies, since young people and generational solidarity are keys to building a stronger, more resilient Europe. Many measurement instruments have been developed to explore individual perceptions and attitudes towards issues such as migration, social trust or education and learning. Some of these measurement instruments have extensive coverage across international social surveys, countries and time points. Harmonising these data greatly improves their analytical potential, as the full time range and country coverage can be used for analyses.

The scripts we offer here enable you to compile customised, harmonised data on these topics to gain insights across a possibly high population density in Europe and Europeans’ attitude change over time. They are written in the open-source statistical software language R and are embedded into detailed guidelines that explain every data preparation and harmonisation step. You should be able to follow these steps, even when R is not the statistical software you are familiar with! If you run into any problems, please don’t hesitate to contact us via email.
