Make it Digital!

Make it Digital! is one of the thematic pillars of EU policies, as it has become a major societal issue, affecting every aspect of people’s lives and opening up entirely new ways to participate in society. Compared to other subject areas, digitisation is still in its infancy in international comparative social research. Still, some measurement instruments have been developed to explore individual perceptions and attitudes towards issues such as digital communication and cybersecurity. Harmonising these data greatly improves their analytical potential, as the full time range and country coverage can be used for analyses.

The scripts we offer here enable you to compile customised, harmonised data on these topics to gain insights across a possibly high population density in Europe and Europeans’ attitude change over time. They are written in the open-source statistical software language R and are embedded into detailed guidelines that explain every data preparation and harmonisation step.
