Webinar

As part of Infra4NextGen, AUSSDA – The Austrian Social Science Data Archive hosted a webinar on Thursday 6 November 2024.

Anita Bodlos (University of Innsbruck) and Lisa Hirsch (University of Vienna) delivered the webinar: Research Data Management (RDM) in the Social Sciences: How to organize your data and make your life easier.

Research data management (RDM) is becoming increasingly important in all stages of the research process. The webinar provided an overview of research data management in the social sciences and explained how best practices throughout the research data life cycle – from planning to publishing – can be implemented.

Specifically, the webinar covered the following aspects, including guidance and where to find more information:

  • What is a data management plan (DMP) and what should it contain?
  • How to make data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).
  • How to choose a repository?
  • What are personal data and how can you handle them?

After completing the webinar, participants will:

  • Understand that RDM is essential in every step along the research data life cycle
  • Be able to identify personal data and know some basics of how to handle them
  • Know how FAIR data are defined and have an idea how to comply
  • Understand why a DMP is important
  • Know on what criteria to choose a repository
